Who Am I?

There are a lot of people who take pictures. Very few of them make photographs. My name is Frank Morales, and for most of my life, I was one of those people—always shooting random pictures of buildings, people, and moments—aimlessly shooting away with no sense of purpose. I’ve been fascinated by photography my entire life, but never seriously thought about expanding that interest into anything more serious. I’d never even considered that my work was good enough to sell, or that I had a particularly good eye for the subject. Then, one day in 2011, I decided to show my photographer friend some of the photos I had been secretly editing, and the door to a new universe opened up.

What I Bring to the Table

My working style has always been characterized by my penchant getting things right the first time. I’m a student at heart, who always researches and prepares for the exams that inevitably present themselves. My inspiration for having a quality portfolio has always been influenced by interdisciplinary studying (e.g. examining subjects where they intersect within other disciplines). Landscape and portrait painters, as well as classical and contemporary photographers form the backbone of my influences. The rest is a fascination with the technical side of this elusive art form. But, at the end of the day, a photograph isn’t just a collection of shutter speed, aperture, and iso settings—no, it’s much more than that. It’s what you put into your work that truly makes it shine.

What Type of Photography Services Do I Provide?

Event Photography - Stylistically, my approach to event photography is to take a documentary and editorial-style approach. I have a knack for catching authentic and candid moments. This includes weddings (on a limited basis), nonprofit organization events, corporate events, etc.

Portraits - I shoot on location in parks and urban scenes. I’m great with families, individuals, children, and pets.

Special Projects - For those clients who have an idea or advertising campaign in mind, I have a significant amount of experience delivering high quality work and helping to realize these concepts with visual storytelling.

Prints - Last but not least, my entire catalog is for sale. Contact me at Frank@BCPrints.com for more information.

How it All Comes Together

I shoot predominantly with my Canon 5D MK II. I’ve never been the one to lust after something shiny and new. It’s all about having the right tools, in the right hands. Recently, I began the foray into medium format film photography. I also develop my own film as well, enabling me to have critical artistic control over safeguarding the quality of these photographs. For special projects that demand a vintage and unique look, I offer film photography services.

I hope this gives you a sense of who I am as an artist. Now, let’s make some moments.
